Thoughtful Care Grounded in Evidence, Compassion, and Collaboration

Mental health care is not one-size-fits-all. Each person brings a unique combination of experiences, circumstances, strengths, and challenges that deserve to be understood and respected.

As a board-certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) practicing independently in Oregon, I provide psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, and ongoing medication management for individuals experiencing a range of mental health conditions.

My clinical focus includes attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and other complex psychiatric conditions.

I recognize that seeking psychiatric care can feel overwhelming, particularly when symptoms have affected daily functioning, relationships, education, employment, or overall quality of life.

My goal is to provide a respectful, collaborative clinical environment where patients feel heard, informed, and actively involved in decisions about their mental health care.

I believe meaningful psychiatric treatment begins with understanding the individual, not simply identifying a diagnosis.

An Individualized, Evidence-Based Approach to Mental Health

My approach to psychiatric care combines current clinical evidence, careful assessment, medication management when appropriate, and shared decision-making.

Whether someone is seeking an initial psychiatric evaluation, clarification of an existing diagnosis, or continued management of a longstanding psychiatric condition, I strive to develop treatment plans that reflect their individual needs, clinical history, preferences, and circumstances.

Treatment begins with a comprehensive assessment that considers psychiatric symptoms, medical history, previous treatment experiences, psychosocial factors, and current functioning.

When medication is indicated, I emphasize thoughtful prescribing, ongoing monitoring of effectiveness and potential adverse effects, and adjustments based on clinical response.

I also recognize the importance of psychotherapy, supportive relationships, practical coping strategies, and coordination with other healthcare professionals when appropriate.

Areas of Clinical Focus

ADHD — Assessment and Ongoing Management

ADHD can affect attention, organization, executive functioning, emotional regulation, and daily responsibilities.

My approach includes careful diagnostic evaluation, consideration of coexisting psychiatric conditions, and individualized treatment planning.

When appropriate, treatment may include medication management, education about ADHD, and recommendations for behavioral or organizational supports.

Depression — Assessment, Treatment, and Continued Support

Depression can influence mood, motivation, sleep, energy, concentration, and the ability to participate in everyday life.

I provide psychiatric assessment and medication management when clinically indicated, with attention to symptom severity, functional changes, treatment preferences, and previous responses to care.

Treatment plans are reviewed over time and adjusted when necessary to address persistent symptoms, medication tolerability, and changing clinical needs.

Bipolar Disorder — Stabilization and Long-Term Management

Bipolar disorder often requires ongoing psychiatric care, careful medication management, and attention to changes in mood, sleep, energy, and daily functioning.

My approach emphasizes individualized treatment plans, symptom monitoring, medication assessment, and long-term clinical support.

I work collaboratively with patients to identify relevant changes in mood and functioning, discuss potential warning signs, and establish appropriate strategies for continued management.

When clinically appropriate, coordination with therapists, primary care clinicians, family members, or other members of a patient's treatment team may be incorporated into care, with the patient's consent.

Schizophrenia and Other Serious Mental Illnesses — Ongoing Psychiatric Support

Living with schizophrenia or another serious mental illness can involve complex clinical, social, and functional challenges.

I approach these conditions with an emphasis on dignity, continuity of care, evidence-based treatment, and respect for each patient's individual circumstances.

Treatment may include ongoing psychiatric evaluation, antipsychotic medication management, monitoring for medication-related adverse effects, assessment of symptoms and functioning, and coordination with other healthcare or community-based services.

For patients with chronic or complex psychiatric conditions, treatment planning considers both current symptoms and longer-term clinical needs.

My role is to provide outpatient psychiatric management and support while recognizing when a patient may benefit from additional services, a higher level of care, or a more comprehensive treatment team.

Collaboration and Shared Decision-Making

I believe patients should have a clear understanding of their diagnoses, available treatment options, and the potential benefits and risks associated with psychiatric medications.

My clinical approach prioritizes open communication, informed decision-making, and ongoing evaluation.

Psychiatric conditions differ in their course, severity, and response to treatment. While outcomes cannot be guaranteed, thoughtful assessment, appropriate interventions, and consistent follow-up can support informed treatment decisions and ongoing symptom management.

Above all, I aim to provide care that is clinically responsible, respectful, and responsive to each person's circumstances.

Understanding the Scope of Outpatient Psychiatric Care

My practice provides scheduled outpatient psychiatric services, including psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and ongoing treatment planning for appropriate mental health conditions.

Outpatient care may be appropriate for individuals whose psychiatric needs can be safely managed through scheduled appointments and ongoing clinical monitoring.

However, some circumstances require more intensive services than an outpatient practice can provide.

Individuals experiencing acute psychiatric instability, immediate safety concerns, or symptoms requiring continuous supervision, emergency assessment, or inpatient treatment may need referral to a higher level of care.

For patients with schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, or other serious mental illnesses, the appropriate level of care is determined by individual clinical needs, current symptoms, safety considerations, and available supports.

This practice does not provide emergency psychiatric services, continuous crisis monitoring, or immediate responses to urgent electronic communications.

Submitting an appointment request, sending an email, or contacting the practice through this website does not establish a treatment relationship or constitute an emergency psychiatric evaluation.

A Thoughtful Approach to Continuing Care

Mental health needs can change over time. My approach emphasizes appropriate clinical assessment, ongoing communication, and recognition of when additional resources or a different level of care may be necessary.

Whether you are seeking care for ADHD or depression or require ongoing treatment for bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, or another complex psychiatric condition, my aim is to provide psychiatric services grounded in clinical evidence, professional accountability, and respect for your individual needs.

Psychiatric care should be informed, collaborative, and centered on the person receiving treatment.
